Waste in Business Cape Town 2011
Alive2green has made a considerable effort to maximize sustainability at the Waste in Business Seminar.
Kenilworth Racecourse Conservation Area
In the centre of the Kenilworth Racecourse is the Kenilworth Racecourse Conservation Area, an approximately 52ha area of seasonal wetland. This is the largest stretch of natural vegetation remaining in Cape Town’s Southern suburbs and supports a healthy reptile, bird and small mammal community, as well as historically and culturally significant fynbos remnants. A natural habitat such as this being situated in a populated urban environment is of educational value. Management agreements have ensured collaborative efforts to preserve this natural environment, and conservation strategies aim to ensure the long term preservation of KRCA.
Kenilworth Racecourse
Kenilworth Racecourse has also taken steps towards sustainable waste management, recycling their Cardboard with Wasteman and glass by Consol Glass.
Recycling Bins Provided by Postwink
These bins are made from 100% recyclable material. The 3-waste EcoCylinder recycling bins aim to make recycling easy, and encourage separation of waste at source. Postwink ensures more trees are planted every year: over the last year alone, Food & Trees For Africa planted 30 trees on behalf of Postwink.
