 Our Head Office is anchored in Johannesburg and our assembly plant is in the foothills of Pietermaritzburg. We have a growing dealership and service support network in South and Southern Africa to provide optimum service efficiency at its best.

To date, there are more than 1600 POWERSTAR units in operation. Because of its ideal suitability for both on- and off-road applications, the majority of these trucks are deployed in construction and mining industries.

Assembly at our Pietermaritzburg plant is conducted under strict Quality Assurance. High quality standards are maintained in accordance with ISO 9000 standards.

Our fully binned, guaranteed Parts warehouses are based in Pietermaritzburg and Jet Park, Gauteng and are available via our service network. The fact that we engineer our current trucks to be void of electronic designs and gadgets, meaning that our trucks have fewer spells in the workshop. With optimized uptime, low cost per kilometre and attractive pricing, they remain magic for your bottom line.

TRUCKS

Be it mining or construction, our POWERSTAR trucks are true working class heroes. Their basic simplicity, ease of maintenance and rugged designs are ideal in harsh African conditions. Vigorously tested and boasting ISO 9000 credentials, they make perfect sense when one considers their most attractive pricing, excellent economy and low cost per kilometer.

Our product range consists of 6x4, 6x6 and 8x4 chassis cabs with a power range of 280, 350 and 420 hp and they have industriously built a solid track record in South Africa as no fuss, no frills workhorses. Suitable for both on- and off-road applications. The range is powered by the well known Weichai engine which offers robust versatility and compactness. Turbo charged, intercooled and powerful, these engines are not only easy and economic to maintain, but are also light in weight. The first Euro III compliant engine was produced in 2005.

The Fast Gear transmission has advanced performance, big torque reserve co-efficiency and strong bearing capacity. It is acclaimed to be an internationally advanced, high power, multi-speed mechanical transmission.

A QUANTUM LEAP FORWARD

The conclusive business agreement between Beiben, the manufacturer of POWERSTAR trucks, their holding company Norinco Motors and Supergroup, has catapulted POWERSTAR South Africa into a new league.

Nerinco Motors, a parent company of Beiben (POWERSTAR’s OEM) based in China, has been in the manufacturing industry for more than 30 years. As of December 2009, POWERSTAR has an international business partnership with CAD Fund and Norinco Motors, who owns a 78.3% shareholding.

Their shareholders are China North Industries Corporation and Jiangsu Yueda Group, who have a total assets base of USD 250 million. Together they have branches and affiliates in more than 40 countries and are ranked among the foremost of China’s 500 largest state-owned enterprises in terms of total assets and revenue.

Their sizeable investment and considerable experience in the commercial vehicle market, underwrites the seamless merging of their business interests as well as their continued commitment to design and manufacture trucks suitable for the African continent.

But then again, Beiben is not a newcomer in the industry.

Backed by continuous engineering refinement and improvement on technical designs, we remain assured that the overall POWERSTAR truck application and operation thereof remain simplistic, cost-efficient and competitively priced.
