Some of the most exciting developments in recent technology have come in the environmental industry. Local councils and businesses have stepped up and come up with some fascinating ways to reduce waste and increase recycling. Probably the most exciting innovations have come in the energy from waste field, which aims to take the things we throw away and turn them into valuable heat and electricity which does not rely on fossil fuels.
The United Kingdom has recently committed to a wider European movement which aims to create more energy from waste. More lucrative incentives have been offered in Britain to encourage individuals and big businesses to look for new ways to turn waste into energy and keep it out of landfills.
The United Kingdom had increased its support of biogas which has more farmers are trying to use crop waste to create electricity. Big businesses have also gotten in on the act as many are trying to find innovative ways to turn industrial waste into energy. Many believe that biogas is the future of energy and that it will eventually replace fossil fuels as the dominant form of power in the world. In addition to heating homes and creating electricity, many believe that biogas will soon be used for transportation as well.
Some firms have even managed to use soiled baby diapers and human waste to create energy, so there are very few limits on this type of technology. Thames Water was able to reduce its carbon footprint to zero by using human feces to create energy.
